2016 DCCX – Day 1 – Elite Men

October 23, 2016

DCCX brings pro cyclocross to our region every year. Held on the bucolic grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Northwest DC, it’s an event that attracts thousands.

This year was no different. The elite fields had something for everyone.

  • Want to see a multi-time national cyclocross champion? There’s Katie Compton. She’s worn the stars-and-stripes 12 times.
  • Want to see a multi-time national mountain bike champion? There’s Adam Craig, two-time cross country champion (and fat-biking legend).
  • Want to rub shoulders and sip a beer with a ProTour rider? There’s Cannondale-Drapac’s Joe Dombrowski–a local legend, 2015 Tour of Utah winner, and two-time Vuelta a España finisher.
  • With solid representation from the US top 20 in both the men’s and women’s fields, the racing was competitive, with hard-fought sprints for each podium.

DMV Cycling was there with a borrowed camera, going guerrilla to capture some images from the men’s elite race. We would have covered the women’s race as well, instead, we went deep into the race itself, providing pit support to Jena Page Greaser, the day’s 4th place women’s finisher.

We’ll update this page with race results. In the meantime, enjoy these first images from our borrowed camera. (One of these days we’ll learn how to use it!)
